“High expectations and quality training will promote higher levels of achievement for America's First Children.”
The Center has begun to help close this achievement gap between Native and white students by helping teachers help students succeed in the basic skills in the early years, en route to a host of educational opportunities that will follow. The Center can’t do it all, but it can further develop and coach the teachers in ways that will help most, if not all children to become successful learners. If there isn’t a Center, years from now, someone will be writing a similar, perhaps more dire, status report on the conditions of our country’s first children, our country’s original inhabitants. Let’s not let that happen.
